The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet
Spring 2023
Based on modern concepts of human colonization efforts being made for Mars, this interpretation of Romeo and Juliet portrays a colony tearing itself apart from the inside. Projected around half a century after humanity treks to the stars pending the destruction of Earth, the settled government has been overthrown for its tyrannical structure. As two rivaling groups fight over who should rule, the characters prove that their mission to escape the fatal end of earth has only begun on a new planet.
Playing with copper, patina, rust, and decay to contrast the fight for survival with the promise of restarted future, this take on Romeo and Juliet takes a story of love, betrayal, bloodlust, and tragedy to a new world.
